OUR APPROACH TO SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainable construction is a growing trend in the building industry that focuses on achieving social, economic, and environmental sustainability throughout the entire life-cycle of a structure. This includes designing and constructing buildings with materials that are renewable, recyclable, and/or create minimal waste during production.
Sustainable construction also encompasses practices such as utilizing efficient energy sources and conserving resources, reducing pollution, and minimizing the impact of construction activities on local ecosystems. Additionally, sustainable construction seeks to promote a more equitable environment by highlighting the importance of labor rights and improving access to safe working conditions and fair wages. By incorporating these principles into building projects, it is possible to create resilient structures that last longer while providing greater benefits to society and the environment.
Our customer focused approach to development and our innovative ways of designing enables us to maintain a global position as frontrunners when it comes to environmental footprint and the preservation of local communities.
Before starting any construction project, all building materials for the future projects will go through a comprehensive evaluation and assessment process – both to ensure the quality and origin of the materials, but also to enable us to inform and educate our staff, customers and potential end users about the property and its impact on the environment.
In our most recent evaluations and assessments the main topics have been emission and local communities. These factors along with our ethics is part of the reason for our “nature first” approach to construction.

Repositioning brown office buildings to green standards, where the proportion of old stock is high such as Paris and Frankfurt and in countries where the deadline to achieve strong EPC ratings is tight, such as Amsterdam. In the Netherlands, all buildings should reach EPC C by January 2023, and 40% of the existing stock is still below a C. – savills.com
